this environment of being surrounded by people comfortable being vulnerable about themselves to express through art while maintaining standards for that mechanical discipline is so addictively contagious. school couldn't have taught me that.

point being, it's so easy to get into a singular focus mindset that ends up building these rigid barriers that get harder and harder to knock down as these habits keep stacking. it is such a massive creative inhibitor.

being busy forging this hypothetical saw requires you to learn metallurgy and tooling and gas temperature, etc, all the while you have a slab of wood in your back yard that still isn't a chair.

when I first started 'getting serious' with music, I was extremely rigid with the idea that music only sounds unique if every bit of your sound is made entirely from scratch. it took me 10 years to realize that forging your own saw to build a chair is blacksmithing, not carpentry
