I've seen many cite Light as super-smart or even charming. Never got it. He's a terrible person but his strong belief that he's the smartest & working for greater good makes him work.

Light is smart, yes. He pulls off nice moves like beating the FBI & creating fake rules. But he’s not untouchable. L outwits him regularly & Light needs magical loopholes or pure luck (DN rules, running into Penbar fiance, 2nd Kira being his fan) to survive.

Light’s strongest trait. He doesn’t just act—he dominates the plot. From the moment he gets the DN he sets his god complex in motion. Never hesitates, always plans & pushes every scene forward. In his own words no one else would have used the DN like him.

Light is written to not be likable. He’s arrogant, snobby & sees others as pawns.
If you actually ended up liking his personality, rewatch the show—he’s not meant to be your hero. Literally, the opening scene establishes his core trait of condescence.

Likability (Do we root for them?)
Proactivity (Do they drive the story?)
Competence (How skilled are they?)
It's a good entry point to discuss.
