One of my favorite takeaways is the “puppy dog smile” as an example of immersion. The moment you see a puppy in public, you smile and want to pet the puppy. Everything else melts away for a few seconds. That is immersion.

What doesn’t change anything? These people applied for jobs a long time ago. They didn’t just decide to become a federal employee. Many come back every year.

A large portion of National Park workers are seasonal employees. They work during peak season, which conveniently coincides with college summer breaks. The parks depend on them.

Clearly those positions need to be reclassified as needed for public safety. How are we going to manage a park safely without these employees?
