Also in spite (or perhaps because) of this sword being super-cursed, I feel like it's the key to why the protagonist is able to stave off the erosion better than most people.

Is it possible the protagonist is an amnesiac, cursed version of that person? Or can you tell in some way other than looks?

Also I guess the Hide UI button works not only in the journal, but during regular screens too. I thought since it didn't have the tooltip listed, it wasn't functional, and so I just... didn't try. Until now.

Erosion is your timer, so to speak. Your percentage gradually increases as you explore. It if maxes out SP stops regenerating, and you gradually lose HP until you die. There are ways to slow and mitigate it, so you usually aren't super-rushed, but it gets hard in some areas.

I wonder when we'll delve more into why the protagonist can resist Erosion, at least for a while, while everyone else gets consumed very rapidly.

I had a brief look at the steam discussions today to look for help with a quest, and discovered there is an R18 patch for this game. However the stuff it adds doesn't really appeal to me.
