Felix eyed him, his frown deepening. “Boar,” he said by way of greeting. “You look terrible.” “Good morning to you too.” “When was the last time you slept?” Felix barrelled on, undaunted. He didn’t bother waiting for an answer before turning his attention on Dedue. “Did he even go to bed last night?” “His Majesty remained in his office all night,” Dedue answered without hesitation. “I do not believe he slept at all.” Dimitri tried not to sigh as Felix launched into a rant. He was happy that two of his closest friends now got along. Truly! However, he dearly wished that their comradery would focus on anything other than badgering him. On the other side of Felix, Sylvain grinned. “If you’re going to stay up all night anyway, you might as well find a more…pleasant way to pass your time,” he said, speaking over Felix’s lecture. Sylvain looked back at the knight trailing them. “Don’t you agree, Sir Byleth?”

Now that everyone's been matched in the Blue Lion Big Bang, we're allowed to share WIPs! Here's the snippet I used for artist claims 😉

Dimitri flirting: haha wouldn't it be romantic if you stabbed me in the heart, killing me instantly 👉👈
Dimitri kept his face carefully blank, hiding his clenched hands beneath the table. “The people of Duscur have no debt to repay,” he said after a moment. The words sounded brittle even to him. “Perhaps not officially,” the viscount replied, oblivious. Unease rippled through the crowd, but the greedy fool continued. “However, we cannot ignore all of the natural resources they have there. Look at how rich Kleiman—” Dimitri slammed his fist down onto the heavy oaken table. He barely noticed the splinters digging into his flesh, nor the other lords flinching away in fear. There was only the snivelling little snake of a viscount, blanching beneath his sudden rage. “Y-your Majesty, I—” “Silence!” Rage seethed through him, refusing to be contained any longer. The whispers of the dead urged him on. “Do you admire that wretch? Do you believe his actions to be just?” Dimitri leaned over the table, baring his teeth in the mockery of a grin. “I thought I had purged all of those rats years ago…but it seems I missed one.” “I—I…” The viscount’s eyes darted around the room, but no one would look in his direction. “Your Majesty…p-please, I didn’t…” Standing behind him, Byleth gripped the hilt of her sword. She wasn’t watching the traitorous lord though. She was staring straight at Dimitri, her gaze cool and assessing. She could kill him before anyone knew what was happening, Dimitri realized through his haze of anger. She was fast. Dedue trusted her. One blink of an eye, and she would slide the blade into his heart. It would be a quick and merciful death. Better than he deserved. The tension fled his body. Byleth would kill him. He wouldn’t ruin anything else. It was a comforting thought.

Byleth investigates rumours of a monster haunting Tailtean Plains...
“They say it’s the mad king.” The words came out in a rush. The soldier snapped his mouth shut, wincing as if he expected her to laugh. But when Byleth only nodded, solemn rather than mocking, he relaxed. Gesturing for her to lean in closer, he continued the sordid tale under his breath. “They say he wears armour, black as night. Hunts down any poor soul that crosses his path, and kills them without hesitation. And his head…” “You’ve heard the stories, I’m sure,” the next soldier told her with relish. “About Mad King Dimitri? Used to rip his enemies to shreds like some sort of wild beast. They say he could even crush skulls with that cursed crest of his! Everyone lived in fear of his unpredictable rage. The Flame Emperor was right to cut off that bastard’s head, you know. Saved the people from a tyrant. Though now they’re saying that not even death could stop his lust for blood.” The third soldier Byleth approached rolled her eyes. “There’s no monster. It’s just some crazed rebel, clinging desperately to the past.” She spat on the ground, mouth curled with derision. “Ugh. I can’t believe they posted me out here in the boonies.” Byleth left the military base at Camulus atop her faithful mare, and rode toward the ruins of Fhirdiad. Even after a century, no one had rebuilt the once shining city.

finally! A wip that I can share for the first time in months!!

Silver Snow AU ❄️ Byleth finds out who she's going to marry (you'll never guess who it is)
“We propose that you marry the former prince of Faerghus. Dimitri.” Her expression didn’t change, but Byleth remembered. Finding him in the fields of death, drenched in blood. Visiting his room in the infirmary again and again, clinging to the hope that she’d saved one life that day. Witnessing his agony, when he’d realized the bitter truth of her salvation. Most of all though, she remembered the day they’d convinced him to give up his crown. She and her advisors, telling him that his claim would cause discord, would bring back the war. That his people would only suffer more under his reign. That it was better for everyone if he abdicated, and lived out the rest of his days in seclusion. Byleth folded her hands neatly in her lap. “We decided he would be a threat to stability if allowed to become king,” she stated after a moment, her voice cool. “Nothing’s changed.”

I want to write more Grandpa Jeralt....he's so much fun 🤭 #dimileth
And of course, not even training three kids at once could distract Jeralt from the little girl in his arms. Céline looked perfectly at home in the hold of her burly, scarred grandfather, her tiny arms barely able to wrap around his thick neck. Jeralt doted on all of his grandchildren, but nothing could compare to the way he spoiled his precious “littlest princess.” He was forever buying Céline gifts despite her roomful of toys, carried her everywhere so she wouldn’t get her dresses dirty, and was downright horrified at the prospect of her ever learning to fight. Even now, he was breaking off pieces of a fancy looking pastry to feed her while her siblings trained. Byleth snorted, vaguely recalling the time one of the mercenaries found her eating dirt, only for Jeralt to shrug and say it would help ward off disease. But of course, it was nothing but the best for his littlest princess.
