We just finished watching it.
I’m pretty shocked and impressed how prescient it is to what’s happening given it would’ve been written at least a year ago. “Resist rebel rebuild”.

It’s horrifying if that’s becomes the case. “Obey in advance” is in the authoritarianism playbook. The core identity of USA is the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Yeah, I was also thinking isn’t that what investigative journalism is for, to uncover the facts people in power don’t want the public to know?

Watching from overseas it gets tiring; I don’t know how you live it lurching from one assault on the rule of law or attack on democratic norms to another but that’s probably the plan til you’re numb to it and suddenly it’s the norm.

When I saw this it reminded me of The Handmaids Tale when June goes to the bank and they won’t give her her own money and she remarked she felt her boyfriend enjoyed the new dynamic of protecting her.

Ugh, the passive aggressive hypocrisy of him makes me shudder and I'm not even in the US. How do these "leaders" sleep at night let alone wake up and look in the mirror.

Obey in advance is in the strongman playbook. Oppose does seem more robust than resist.

Yet its value is immeasurable.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

I hope things are just quietly being done behind the scenes to investigate if there were, or be satisfied there weren't, any result-changing interference either way. I mean how did the richest country in the world for the most powerful position become a country where this is possible.

I can’t waste another 8 years of my life thinking surely people will come to their senses with this guy. Nothing is normal and will people forget what the norms are.

I’m in Australia and wondering what even matters anymore. Do we just live our own quiet lives according to our own values, act ethically with kindness and hope most of us ultimately are good people not completely driven by power and money.
