NI for a £65,000 earner:

Current system:
Total NI paid now: 8% £3,016 + 2% £295 = £3,311
Green Party plan:
Entire £65,000 - £12,570 = £52,430 taxed at 8% = £4,194
Additional annual cost: £4,194 - £3,311 = £883 58.

Impact example:

For a £65,000 earner contributing £10,000 annually to a pension:
Current relief: 40% of £10,000 = £4,000 (reducing tax liability).
Proposed relief: 20% of £10,000 = £2,000.
Annual loss: £4,000 - £2,000 = £2,000 (additional tax burden).

Green manifesto = NI up to 8% for all earnings over £50,270 (removing the 2% cap = +6%). Also scrap 40% pension relief, higher earners limited to 20%. Not just wealth tax on multimillionaires.

Exactly this. Politicians blame the vulnerable to hide the truth: corporations, landlords and banks are driving inequality. We don’t have to accept it. When we expose the truth, organise, and stand together, their power crumbles. Division keeps them strong, unity makes us unstoppable.

I support much of your manifesto, but taxing middle earners MORE is a big issue.

Middle working class people on £50k+ already pay up to 47% with tax + NI. They aren’t the problem.

Target the ultra-wealthy sat on assets and using loopholes, not those earning a decent living.

Classic populist playbook: create division, other your opponents, and stoke anger.

Don’t be fooled, it’s not about helping you. It’s about power.

Populists will say anything to turn you against others while they quietly protect wealth and privilege at the top.

People want change, but turn to populists offering tax cuts for the rich.

Wolves in sheep’s clothing.

• Middle earners pay 40–47%
• Ultra-wealthy often <25% via loopholes
• Corporations avoid £13.7bn/year

Real change means closing loopholes + making wealth + ALL big business pay fairly.

The U.S. has likely incurred greater economic losses from the decline in international tourism, estimated at around $9 billion, than the net savings achieved by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Elon Musk. www.tourismeconomics.com/press/in-the...
