She's been extra cuddly this weekend as I'm dealing with the after effects of flu and shingles vaccines on Friday.

Win-win.

She gets snuggles; I get warm hands.

Get a new car with more bells and whistles, they said.

Car: your tire is low!! Your tire is low!!

.... did no one tell the car not to cry wolf?

Defenders of the neighborhood. (There evidently was a BIRD that dared to land in the front garden.)

She's evidently helping me attach my lease sticks.

Also, I find myself both excited and nervous about this next step, dressing the loom for the first time. We'll see if I got everything rebuilt properly!

I played with both a drop spindle and a wheel today.

There are some crafts you just get. There are some you don't get that aren't worth it to you. And then there are some you know will take work, and you're willing to do it.

Spinning feels like the third category.

Local fiber festival this weekend, about 45 minutes from my house. They had a few classes starting yesterday...

Behold, my first attempt at needle felting! (I'm happy to report that I will NOT be hoarding supplies for this craft, even though fun.)

This did not go how she expected...

(2 seconds later and it was all on the floor - the cat, the heddle, and the throw.)

Surely there's a better way than this? Also, why do so many of my interests involve math??

Adding width and length to a pattern that is more than just repeating blocks with this one. My other project I'm adjusting from 30/2 to 8/2 (2/2/3 to 2/2/2 in the reed).

This project was sidelined when the Great Restoration began. After receiving the incorrect width of steel cable for the third time, I went back to something I could control. This will come off the loom tonight.

Also, for a slap dash direct warping job, I'll take that!

2 weeks later, and she's all back together! Cleaned, waxed, metal bits de-rusted and then sealed, new aprons, new brake, old cords replaced with texsolv. Building a raddle and installing the new brake tomorrow, and then I'll take her for a test drive.

Does over vs. under matter for aprons, as long as it advances in the correct direction? I attached this one first and then realized they typically go under. I can't just flip it without drilling new holes on the beams ends.

Do I take the aprons off the beams and clean/feed them as well? Frame, treadles, lams, and horses done. Harnesses, back frame, and beater bar today.

Brake hub/cable conversion kit arrives tomorrow... so now is the time to decide. All goes well, and warping on Wednesday!

I believe I've lost this tape measure. Gone, gone, gone.

She was a dirty dirty girl. Frame was 1.5 t-shirts worth of dirty, and that was after a vacuum and swiffer dusting. I'm trying to decide if I sand off some paint transfer marks, or if I just consider them part of the loom's history. Also, the cats are much less interested now.

Amongst the box of shuttles that came with my new-to-me loom were these items. I'm 90% certain they are spinning related (as there was a small blending board brush), but I'm also 100% certain I'm missing something important. So - what am I missing?

She has arrived! She needs a good cleaning, a large amount of texsolv cord, one bolt, and .... a brake cable. Everything else appears to be here! For $450!

Oh. And to be moved down into my craft space, but the back beam has to come off for that to happen.

She moved her cuddler over within paw distance of the ball track tower. Now she can lazily reach out and play from the comfort of her bed.

Peak #caturday vibes.

She and I had a discussion on exactly who needed that chair the most. She won last night, but I won this morning.

After a poor choice of warping method, I'm finally ready for the peaceful part.

Also, warping mohair on a rigid heddle loom presented an interesting challenge. Now we'll see what it's like in the weft!

This version of "there's a monster under the covers" is a lot more entertaining for me.

Also, very much not helpful when changing the sheets on the bed.

Almost halfway done with this warp, where there's a color change every slot/hole (slots 1 color, holes 3 different colors). Also, I've definitely decided I prefer indirect warping!

This bold gentleman has spent each morning of the last week hanging out in my front flower bed. My girls are unamused. They do NOT want to be friends.

(I haven't told them I've spent the last year hanging out with him in my back yard where they couldn't see us.)
