Scientist striving for impact at the intersection of science, policy, and justice. Believer in community power. Views mine. She/her 🧪

Rebellions are built on hope.
I had a great time visiting colleagues in Edmonton with @chiefscican.bsky.social last week!

It was my first time in YEG and it was wonderful to get acquainted with its vibrant scientific community and beautiful green spaces, not to mention the electric playoff atmosphere!

🌏 Trust in science remains high. Our challenge is not defined by pro-sci vs anti-sci antipathy but by “my sci/evidence” vs “your sci/evidence” polarization 🧪

We scientists need to BE the trusted friend/family/community member that fills info vacuums b4 others do.

A reminder to get out into nature when possible, away from the noise and chaos. Take deep breaths to reconnect with what’s good in this world, what we are fighting for.

And then we get back to work.

International Women’s Day is a great day to remind ourselves that none of us are free until all of us are free.

May we live by these wise words by Lilla Watson 👇

Something that’s flying under the radar rn (or at least I haven’t seen any coverage) is the fact that buried in the Unleashing American Energy EO is the revocation of Biden’s 2021 memorandum on #ScientificIntegrity.

The true impact of this remains to be seen, but it can’t be good 🧪 #sciencepolicy

This is such a fundamental (& perhaps willful) misunderstanding of science 🧪

Yes there is always some degree of uncertainty in science, but when the best available evidence point overwhelmingly in one direction, we can say there is consensus that this is the conclusion likeliest to be true.
