Back on Twitter I actually did a whole thread about Jane Eyre while I re-read it. I've been meaning to re-read Wuthering Heights too and maybe this is a good use of my social media presence. Let's document Heathcliff's abuses. 🤓

And without KNOWING anything, both these things come across as production problems to me. Like someone cheaped out and the artists did the best within the restraints they were given + studio interference. I imagine they had more freedom with the music, which (surprise) is the best part of the movie.

Not to mention the atrociously janky animation. It's giving The Dragon Prince Season 1. Literally took me a whole 20 minutes before I could adjust.

Act I: Good Heroes fighting Evil Villains
Act II: Maybe the villains are not so evil after all! Look at all this development!
Act III: nvm

No but for real what a crappy script. About 1 hour in I thought they wrote themselves into a corner and one of the few solutions would be for the pink-hair girl to have an Evil Reveal, which to me sounded lazy as hell, and yet it would have been 1,000× better than the actual resolution of the movie.

Having the first question someone asks me when I arrive at a venue I've never been to before be "do you work here?" isn't quite the same flex as having the bouncer just let me in for free but it fits my vibe enough.
