There really should be some sort of clause in US law that allows the people to reject a declaration of war.

Not easily. Zoning laws would require them to be rebuilt from scratch, and they’re mind of out in the middle of nowhere or have already displaced communities people wont want to return to.

Considering there are less and less young people, that’s not a good thing.
Most voters are older folks, and young people are squeezed hard enough to where they cannot take on the burden of financially supporting their parents.
So everyone kind of gets fucked in your scenario still.

If you are only looking at the films, trilogy to trilogy they are peak classic storytelling.
LOTR also does have enough sequel and prequel slop
It ultimately comes down to if you like giant sprawling oceans of story or tight, fun, energetic story.

Take vinyl for example. Vinyl production isn’t the most environmentally friendly thing, but in relation to all vinyl products, music is a sliver of that industry.
