While the CBC casually entertains a clear threat to Canadian sovereignty with this abomination of a program, CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference) in the US is now openly promoting the idea of Trump as dictator for life.

Canada won't forget this, CBC and @ianhanomansing.bsky.social

The Himalayas are the world's tallest mountain range, and also its newest.

The Indian plate, once part of southern continent Gondwana, broke away 140m yrs ago and subsequently moved north after another split from Madagascar. 55m yrs ago, it collided with Asia and has been mountain forming since.

I've seen a post lately claiming the saying is "cold as hail," not "cold as hell." Nope, it sure isn't.

The saying "cold as hell" references Dante's Inferno, in which the worst part of hell is described as a frozen lake named Cocytus, where sinners are trapped in ice like flies in amber.

Sure, Canada will become the 51st state right after Mexico pays for the wall. I really cannot believe Americans voted for this clown (yes, I realize many of you didn't)

Built 500-1000 years before the pyramids, Stonehenge is one of Earth's most recognizable structures. But another, much older, stone circle exists 25km off Israel's coast.

Atlit-Yam has been carbon-dated to be almost 9000 years old, and provides clues to the purpose of these ancient megaliths.

Canada shares land borders with two countries, and a maritime boundary with a third. While the USA is an easy guess, the other two are not.

Hans Island, located between NE Canada and Greenland, is shared with Denmark, while France is our neighbour to the SE via the islands of St. Pierre & Michelon.

When Krakatoa volcano erupted in 1883, the explosions were so powerful they tore the island apart, and produced the loudest sound known in history at 310db. The volume of ash spewed was enough to cool the Earth's temp for five years, and its effects on the sky inspired Edvard Munch's The Scream.

In the Western Desert of Egypt, 250km SW of Cairo, lies the Valley of Whales (Wadi Al-Hitan). Here, the fossils of a long-extinct suborder of whales, Archaeoceti, sprawl across drifts of sand--an area that was once part of the ancient Tethys Sea.

Vancouver Police horses seen wearing their stylish friendship "bracelets" for Taylor Swift shows in Vancouver this weekend. Toronto Police first made them for their horses and then shipped them here. Canada's built a lil' different :)

Most mornings, before I've taken my first sip of coffee, my cat plays this ceramic stool like a steel drum with his toenails.

I'm beginning to question the whole "owning pets lowers your blood pressure" thing.
