Does it count if I put sweat pants over my pajama pants to walk the dog???

Love this!!! I know there are many bigger problems out there right now, but if this is a problem we can solve, it’s a step in the right direction. As someone who had to be on call 24/7 for years, getting only the calls I was supposed to get would have improved my QOL tremendously.

Yes, and it’s so sad to see what tariffs are doing to the already high prices. I didn’t think much before about how most fabric is imported. And I suppose most notions as well. I worked in a fabric store as a kid (long ago) and remember those $1.89/yd specials! 🥲

Sadly true. A fabric store in my town has everything needed for quilting but minimal fabric for clothing. Yet they have a ton of dressmaking and tailoring notions. Another shop has great fabric for clothes but again not much… so on to the next town for the larger fabric store, with few notions. Hmm.

I just read this book as well, and found it thoroughly fascinating. Resistance comes in so many forms. It was brilliant how Ms. Valland managed to stay at the Jeu de Paume throughout the whole occupation, considering what she was up to!

I first thought you wrote keening, which also sounds appropriate these days…

Northeast Boulder County - best I have seen here in 20+ years!

Wow, that sounds great. I will definitely check out this book! Thank you.

Thank you! That’s a great point. I’ll probably make a mock up first, just to get the steps/layers right. Buying something like Harris Tweed makes me nervous still!

Loved reading this whole thread, I learned so much. I’m back to sewing my own clothes after a long break, and working up to making a wool coat, since my current coat is looking a bit threadbare. Your tidbits here are very helpful! Any other resources you know for making your own?

Wow! Great story. I had the privilege of working at Palmer Station for a few seasons in the early 2000s. I’ll never forget the beauty, but also the tragedy that in Arctic research is clearly showing about our warming planet. Thank you for raising awareness!

Hello??? “Do no harm,” anyone??? They are clearly invested in not providing actual needed and appropriate healthcare. No one needs an unhealthy dose of propaganda with a side of screw you with their cancer diagnosis.

Seems like the second stage of concentration camps, the first being ICE detention facilities.

I agree w/Sorkin. Seems a good time to have a more conservative retirement portfolio; I moved (not all but an increased percentage) into money market to at least get a 4% return rather than increase exposure to the decline that is likely to come. Grateful to have the savings and want to keep it!

The misogyny expressed by this administration and their senator and representative lackeys knows no bounds!

Measles, mumps and rubella vaccines are more effective when combined. They are generally not even available separately. Why put your child through the discomfort of getting three separate shots, when they would be less effective individually? Is there anyone with a medical education left at HHS?

Dr. Ruth! 😉

Thank you for raising awareness about this! Another point is the Natty B is the main transport/resupply ship for the scientists and staff at Palmer Station on the Antarctic peninsula, in addition to doing science at sea. These operations cannot be done as safely without a vessel built for the ice.
