final critique of the semester!! I dont anticipate it's intellectually stimulating for my peers but I'm trying to enjoy my craft again. Also theyre cute as fuck.

2 sterling silver spools, 1 paper pirn, 1 wooden spool. All hand spun cotton thread. Synthetic & indigo dye, the middle is undyed + waxed

been messing around with synthesizers lately, got my hands on a music thing modular WS

got some pretty simple patches going on, focusing more on noise than music rn. lots of sirens and eerily human sounding vocalization

also working on programming my own card for it.. we'll see how that goes

falling in love with indigo and dyeing everything i have

i love how it looks on the grey wool (middle) and cotton picks it up so much nicer than the shetland ive been working with 😭

thats a little hank of 3 ply cotton sewing thread i spun on the right
September 27, 2025 at 8:13 PM
spun some aluminum and copper like it was a cable yarn to make chain that doesnt behave like chain

was interested in seeing if textured yarn spinning techniques could be applied to metals in any way

spun 2 pairs of copper and aluminum wire in s twist, then plied them together with z twist

September 26, 2025 at 9:01 PM
so scared to dip my yarn in the indigo vat for no reason but i got 1 dip done today before my arms got tired

there are 6 pairs of hanks and 1 single hank, gonna do many many many more dips. its a lil splotchy i think certain singles had more lanolin than others

idk, itll even out eventually maybe
September 26, 2025 at 3:13 AM
dyed my gansey swatch in indigo to get a feel for how the yarn will take the dye... and im obsessed

the smell of the indigo and watching it oxidize is just a wonderful experience. I have never been more excited for a project in my life

i did 5 dips, each 1 minute submerged and 1 minute to oxidize

took up netting a couple days ago. got a beautiful shuttle off ebay, spun some 2ply flax cord, and cut a gauge out of some scrap brass.

lovely and functional, feeling like id kill it in a coastal town a couple hundred years ago

milking this fleece for every gram of wool i can get. Already spun 2.2 lbs of 5 ply worsted weight yarn, and starting a sock yarn.

This will be my third and final pass tho, I think i got my moneys worth and the rest will be stuffing.

weaving with cotton singles as warp and weft like im the bad boy of weaving

only 2 of 264 warps drifted apart so thats a win. i do have to lift a couple stitches every pick manually but its small project, about 13", so im not mad.

this will probably be a handkerchief with drawn thread embroidery
