@mrjamesob.bsky.social Heard you on R4 saying "homogenous" instead of "homogEneous". Oxford eh?

@valmcdermid.bsky.social Are you familiar with the book The Reckoning by Charles Nicholl, which is about Marlowe's murder? I was born in Deptford, where there's a plaque to Marlowe in the churchyard of St Nicholas

@stephenmangan.bsky.social
Do you ever feel like correcting people publicly when they mispronounce your name? Luckily for my mispronouncers it's never public on TV or radio.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social All the nonsense that what Diane Abbott said was antisemitic aside, the orator at my university in the early 1970s corrected me for saying "o-ray-tor" rather than "OR-a-tor". He was only Professor of French though, so what did he know?

@nickabbot.bsky.social Stop saying gulls are stealing our food! WE steal THEIRS! We're overfishing the ocean and leaving them starving.

@willtravers.bsky.social I've been meaning all day to wish your wonderful mother a happy birthday.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social I'll laugh when you say Edward de Bono's name properly - Bone-o.

@nickabbot.bsky.social You were talking last night about needing utilities for all this new building.Central Lewisham has been so totally covered in towers it's unrecognisable. The old Metropolitan Water Board building is nearby. And the other week 3 new blocks had to be evacuated after a main burst

@mrjamesob.bsky.social There is NO such word as "disassociate" (except in bad US police dramas). It's "dissociate". So much for an expensive private school education vs a charity school for the poor.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Why aren't you observing No Mow May - leaving your first Mow till May is out to give insects, especially bees, a chance to feed from weeds' nectar and give the flowers a chance to bloom and seed? Irresponsible.

@nickabbot.bsky.social When I first saw "Kier" in your book. I thought it was a misprint. Then I realised it was spelt that way throughout. Poor Keir.

It looked like I was already following you! These alternative sites do seem to know who I follow elsewhere.

@nickabbot.bsky.social Stephen Graham. Made a big impression in Line of Duty as the undercover cop who got killed.

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Too late to call in, but you may be interested to learn that I have taught many pairs of autistic identical twins. One is usually more symptomatic than the other. In fraternal twins I have often come across cerebral palsy in one twin.

@nickabbot.bsky.social PLEEEASE relax your no death rule and including Jimmy Carter. This is such a one-off, he was such a great man. How can we have a record of this year that doesn't mention his death. I bet you'd have made an exception for the late Queen.

@nickabbot.bsky.social Boo! You reduced my text about my local police team meeting with a consolatory hug to something unacceptable. It was meant to show some of us have active, caring local police teams even without the government's plans for the future.

@paullewismoney.bsky.social As you are the financial expert I trust most, I hope you can advise me a way to discover if the car loans scandal can be investigated by someone other than the people who keep emailing me. (I bought new VWs in 14, 17 and 21 and I don't want to be scammed!)

@mrjamesob.bsky.social Slither/sliver. The first is to slide like a snake. The second is a small amount of something such as wood or glass. I'm guessing the Oxford-educated Mr O'B should know better than a plate-glass graduate with very poor parents.
