More horse mounts!
No, hear me out. I want a horse that's a horse. Like. An ordinary, boring, normal horse that isn't locked behind HoH or a PvP grind I am unequal to. I want the horse from the Azim Steppe. That's all. Maybe put a saddle on it, but that horse? That horse will do. Please.

Ayah first made her appearance in Gridania on April 21, 2020. Not, as it happens, the first time I'd ever ventured into Eorzea: but it had been such a while since I last logged in, and my oldest characters were so early on in the game, I thought it was best to start fresh.
She stuck.

There's a quote from Michael Herr's 'Dispatches' that always makes me think of Ken. Which is probably extremely poor use of a good book, to pin any part of it on my silly FFXIV OC... but it really does fit him and the life he leads, poor sod, extraordinary well:

In Ayah's case it's probably the genuine openness of her countenance. She's pretty rather than beautiful, but she's a guileless girl with a very sweet face who gives freely of her emotions, and that's something I believe strangers and friends would find becoming. She's a lovely smile, too.

Ken is a min-height Midlander. He does far more looking up at people than he's ever been comfortable with: growing up in a Garlean territory where shortness was associated with "savageness" did give him a bit of a complex.
He's pretty sure just about everybody is expecting someone taller.

Ayah is an excellent hunter and trapper, having been brought up in a Keeper community that relied on subsistence hunting to keep itself fed and clothed. She believes, in Gridanian fashion, that the sacrifice of an animal taken for food should be respected, and nothing should go to waste.

Ayah has two glams I'm particularly pleased with right now, one for DNC and one for RDM, both using gear from San d'Oria. I really can't decide between them, so I'm going to share both.

Sute the cat.
There's a cat that appears at a certain point in our journey through Elpis. Sute, in Ken's canon, is that cat. He didn't want her to face the possibility of death should she fail to live up to whatever standard had been set her; or the near certainty of it in the Final Days.

Ayah's taste in clothing is girlish, a little old-fashioned, occasionally whimsical, and sometimes - she is a Dancer, after all! - unabashedly theatrical. She loves bright colours, particularly reds and pinks, and decorative flourishes. It's fun to dress up and feel pretty!

Ken likes wearing jewellery. Why wouldn't he? He lives in a world where gemstones have such observable and definable powers nobody dares debate it; where men wearing jewellery not only look rather sensible but potentially very handy. Besides, he's going to take any advantage he can get.

Manon Beaudonet of Silent Arbor.
I love Duskwight Elezen, and I honestly wish I had more time to spend with Manon; she was supposed to be the subject of my second playthrough, but I only got her as far as Stormblood before my plans changed, and she's since been overtaken by events.

Ken's happiest moment was shortly after arriving in Gridania; never in all his life had he been anywhere he simply felt able to relax. It's the most peaceful place he knows, and he thinks he'd give anything to preserve that. The world needs quiet, secluded spaces, maybe now more than ever.
