Watching new movies and anime || playing not-so-new games (and trophy hunting)
Love a good joke ending. The fight with Gilgamesh when you dont take his offer was pretty rough though. #FSR

At least I was right that someone was from the Tale of the Heike.

This game is definitely showing me the limits of my Japanese history/mythology knowledge. #FSR

4 (#243) - Scars Above

Mid sci-fi adventure borrowing ideas from Metroid Prime and Dark Souls, which is a combo that doesnt quite work. Very generic story, combat was alright but nothing special. 4/10

3 (#242) - The Talos Principle 2 + DLC

Really fun puzzle game, builds on the first one in a lot of cool ways. Main game is slightly easy but the DLC makes up for it with tough challenges. Missable trophies were obnoxious. 9/10

2 (#241) - Ni no Kuni

Very slow at first, but more fun once you have all the mechanics. Pretty average JRPG with nice Ghibli art and some awful postgame trophy grinds. 6/10

November 2025 plats thread

1 (#240) - Sherlock Holmes Awakened

Interesting to see a remake of an older Sherlock game in the style of Chapter One. Enjoyed the shorter, more linear experience, although it is a bit too simplistic. 6/10

This felt like classic Fate with Rogue Berserker dying in a way reminiscent of his original legend. Also liked the choice of this character as Berserker

Realised I was very wrong about Saber, not super aware of the Kojiki so will be fun to fill in that blind spot a little #FSR

Chapter 3 done. While I liked the idea of Caster taking control of the Rogues, being able to take control of every servant is a bit much. For FSN Caster, it was her primary power and she only captured a couple. Maybe Caster's identity will justify it?

Pictured, unrelated Berserker pose I loved #FSR

I like the idea of Caster Circe, but why are Greek mythological women in Fate games always fantasy elves. #FSR

One of the (more obvious) identities confirmed. Also enjoyed Zhou Yu having a Chi Bi reality marble, and the way Caster (?) is taking advantage of the Rogue Servant concept. #FSR

Finished Chapter 2.
Didn't learn much, and no clue about the identities of the Archer from Hindu mythology or this old man Assassin.
My only new thought is that Rogue Berserker is possibly from Ancient Rome.
Excited to see the story start to develop. #FSR

Appreciating the variety of Masters in this game. This lady looking much fancier than her Servant.

What is this guy doing here? Not even trying to fit in. #FSR

Zheng Chenggong and his servant Zhou Yu are a pretty interesting addition here. I wasn't expecting other masters to be historical figures of note. Did expect Three Kingdome characters though, given the developers. #FSR

I'm here for wacky, pre-corruption Gilgamesh.

Less here for the Tamamo character which I had to look up the history of. #FSR

Remember when Fate Stay Night felt the need to justify a female King Arthur...lol we're so far beyond that now #FSR

Ok, it got weird. #FSR

Starts off pretty action packed, showing off a couple Master/Servant pairs and hinting at Saber's abilities.
My initial guess is that Saber might be Song Jiang from The Water Margin, given the water powers and a reference to writing on wood. Otherwise maybe a famous pirate #FSR

Starting Fate: Samurai Remnant. For reference, I'm a big fan of the original VN and Fate Zero, and have engaged with a couple other Fate spin-offs, but haven't touched FGO.
Curious to see how this one goes.

The crew heading to the final Ni No Kuni dungeon.
This air battle feels amusingly out of place with the rest of the worldbuilding. I'm not convinced the cats and mice fighting town has aerial warfare capabilities.

Classic JRPG final boss (except its not the final boss, because they added more content).

Wasn't too hard with Oliver's big new spell and a strong familiar, but the rest of the party was pretty useless.

Big time Ni no Kuni spoilers here we go.

I totally guessed this twist early on when they hinted that there was a secret Oliver would discover about Shadar. Didn't expect the time travel though.

Final endings werent anything special, but I liked So Mi as a villain and the game turning into stealth horror for a bit.
October 12, 2025 at 2:57 AM
OK, the Tower ending was suitably brutal for the awful betrayal it requires. V losing everything and everyone is pretty effective, but given Cyberpunk's themes of becoming a legend and dying gloriously, V choosing survival above all else and becoming just a face in the crowd was perfect.

Love when they change the NPC's name to match the conversation. Always gets a laugh from me. #NNKBHC
