I despise how we look at eyes and teeth as “luxury items.”

Sure, we have Universal HC up here, but those aren’t covered.

Even with great private insurance, not all places direct bill, and unless you can afford hundreds of dollars upfront, you can’t take care of those parts of your body.

I will never understand how ANY union can endorse a conservative party, when time and again said parties have been shown to be actively anti-union.

Tariffs are, in the end, paid for by the consumer, and having them against the US, it gives corpos a scapegoat excuse to price-gouge even more.

I don’t do the “couldn’t be me” or “I would never” when hearing about someone else’s situation. Because the truth is, until you’ve GONE THROUGH that situation, you don’t know what you would or wouldn’t do.
Also, the way life works - it could very well be YOU, beloved.

but to then say that HIV, AIDS, and the crisis it caused to my community was also entirely man made, you can completely go fck yourself.

It’s true that “everyone has their issues,” but take a step back and see that your family isn’t being systematically wiped out, and the position of privilege that puts you in. Then have more than an ounce of empathy towards those dealing with situations like that. Especially if they’re your friend.

If you’re going to downplay not only the death of a friend’s family, but also the attempt at eradication of that friend’s very people as “I know you’re sad, but…”

You are not a good person

To clarify, I am not a “liberal.” I find liberal politics to be far too performative and not substantive enough. I am left of the left of the left of centre. I believe in people, first and foremost. An “economy” is only truly based on how the lowest of the society is faring.

I can’t stand when dipshts say things like, “you want stuff for free? Sounds like a liberal voter! *hur hur*”

It’s not that we want free things, it’s that we want our taxes to pay for stuff for us and not subsidize some Corpo D-bag that already has access to everything they need.
