Something that truly shocked me about the IVF process was the insurance hoops. I spent hours on the phone.“We apologize for the delay. We are experiencing an unusually high call volume. Your call is important to us. Your call will be answered shortly.” Spoiler- the call was never answered shortly.

This was my first time experimenting with resin/gold on a 2D piece. This piece was really about me processing the concept of “life” in the context of IVF and embryos. It’s strange, specially when you’ve experienced relatively “early” miscarriage as deep loss. Acrylic, resin, and gold leaf on wood.

Newest piece from the IVF series. This is a departure for me;embroidery for the figure, silk for the sheets, and hospital gown fabric for the gown. It’s called “In Waiting.” It means a lot of different things to me, and encompasses many hospital visits, losses, and hopes, all rolled into one.

I did IVF. It didn’t work. There’s a lot of shame, shame that doesn’t belong, but shame nonetheless. I’ve been working on a series about it.I didn’t know how the series would end, but knew I needed to do the work now. IVF was painful for me, both psychologically and physically.“The Chemist.”
