And, how about an extra heaping of grace for those who are legit doing the best they can under the present circumstances? Please? I know I need all the grace I can get right now, and my feeling is many others feel the same. Much love and grace to you all.

Maybe. But I can't control how my message is received, I can only choose to faithfully deliver it. That's really all most of us can do. So, do not lose heart, dear friends, in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary.

That obviously stuck with me, so I'm doing what I can to call out injustice, being as faithful as I can be to my call. I'm doing all the good I can.

And, I see others doing the same. But then I hear responses like, "_______ doesn't work. You're wasting your time."

"I'm from Kansas. Nothing I say or do will be heard by my reps and senators. What's the point?"
His reply: "I get it. I'm from Kentucky, the home of Mitch McConnell. But here's the truth - we cannot control how our message is received. But, we are called to be faithful in delivering it."

I was at a conference in D.C. a few years ago where leaders from various Christian denominations gathered to learn how to advocate better. I listened to a session led by a Lutheran pastor. At the end, I raised my hand and asked this question:

What are we doing? Ha!
