Sounds like there were some law students who were able to get in & they did some schooling

But the pressure needs to remain high

If I were the UofR, I’d offer up the gym for the SGM. Make sure there’s no excuse for online shenanigans

I’d also ask a Court to investigate

and super sus that the “date of notice” at the foot of the Sept 22nd change is different (Sept 10) than the date of the notice itself.

And I’d guess that twice amending the physical location of the SGM on 1 or 2 days’ notice, and then amending the online location from Zoom to Teams with no notice will run afoul of Non-Profit Corporations Act requirements.

This meeting was over before it began.

& get the popcorn out…even tho the meeting is Chaired by a lawyer, the actions contained in the Dissolution Resolution aren’t legal

URSU’s Constitution explicitly says that upon dissolution, all assets are transferred to the U of R Board in trust.
Can’t amend Const at SGM.

URSU’s Constitution (Article XV) says that on dissolution all of URSU’s assets, property, and information must be turned over to the University of Regina Board of Governors in trust.

A constitutional amendment itself requires:
• Proper advance notice to all members;
• Approval by the required special majority (URSU’s constitution says constitutional amendments need a 2/3 vote at a General Meeting with quorum present); and
• Compliance with The Non-Profit Corporations Act,2022

If the SGM resolution proposes something different (like appointing a liquidator who holds or disposes of assets) that would contradict Article XV.

To lawfully do anything other than turn these assets over to the U of R, URSU would first need to amend Article XV of the constitution.

Really interesting.

How is library attendance calculated? Bodies through the door? Unique transactions (each time a client check-outs books; each event registration; etc)?

I’m intrigued by this, but the article doesn’t explain what library “attendance” is - I’m assuming people through the door.

The document doesn’t explain methodology, which makes me curious.

Honestly, I think she kinda knows what she’s doing. It’s not the right thing, but she knew how this would go. She knew she could show her base that she “stood up for Alberta”… knowing full well it wouldn’t impact the course of Canada’s response to Trump.

She’s spineless.
