This illustrates the need for a news outlet, the Mundane Register, with stories like: “thousands of people live in area, go about their days unmolested… again.”

Or the Everyday Gazette: “city still not sacked by Huns.”

To come to think of it, I think people always make places better.

so much of Jacobs’ thesis of this book revolves around the idea that cities are great because of the people in it and the same applies to parks (especially those in cities). I have always felt better in parks with people

“Far from transforming any essential quality in their surroundings, far from automatically uplifting their neighborhoods, neighborhood parks themselves are directly and drastically affected by the way the neighborhood acts upon them.” TLDR: parks are what we make them

coalitions need to
1) assess current resources, needs, and priorities/scope
2) develop short and long-term action plans for addressing those needs
3) develop buy-in from community partners and share responsibility for action among all parties

in my early 20's i learned a ton from experts in my field but was extremely micromanaged. now i am in a spot where I have much more autonomy but feel the weight of responsibility that comes with that. I am going to use this page to track some of my learnings as I start to grow on my own
