Art, reading, writing, the thoughts from my head, folklore, folk horror, the macabre, the uncanny, the absurd. ADHD. Alt text enjoyer. Trans Rights Are Human Rights. They/them. Kate.
There was also this fun passage at the start of one document, on disambiguating generations of William Beans.

All this to say, write down or otherwise record your scrappy, incomplete and artfully reconstructed family memories. Future generations will thank you.

Regardless of veracity, they have been fascinating reads & I dearly hope one day someone writes their unreliable recollections of me with a similar approach to subheadings as Owen did in the doc on my grandad where you will find:
- Gerry's Playground
- The Heist
- Gerry and the Parallel Universe

I'm calling the contents Family Lore, not family history, because I'm aware that I hail from a long line of, let's charitably say "creative truth-tellers", & Owen was not a reliable narrator despite that, given that he was recalling childhood memories 50+ years on & was also very mentally unwell 2/5

For a modern read (pub'd 2024) there's also Trans Femme Futures by Nat Raha and Mijke Van Der Drift.

Specifically essays/non fic or is fic on the cards too? I would def read Wollstonecraft, Butler & de Beauvoir for a solid grasp of where and how the theories grew

Also check out Bell Hooks, Angela Davis & Trish Salah. Not feminist per se but Susan Sontag is worth reading if you want leftist works

I don't work in ed,but it seems to me that a test at age 12/13 is a bit late in the day to address issues highlighted. Surely introducing (or rather reintroducing) better support for reading (as you say funding for libraries etc ..) at younger ages would negate need to put kids through more tests
