“Northerners understand how close a neighbour Russia is. Canada must be clear-eyed about the implications of its geographic proximity to Russia. Canadian Forces Station Alert, on Ellesmere Island, is closer to the Russian military’s air force than Iqaluit is to Ottawa or Toronto is to Winnipeg.”

Iran will likely come to term with Trump’s ‘maximum pressure’ to negotiate. Tehran will likely go to the brink of a war with the US, but in the end it will give in to negotiations. Russians have passed Trump’s deadline to Tehran. Israel’s strikes may happen any time.

The writer is a physicist, seems has no essential knowledge of international politics & Iran’s nuclear strategy. China’s experience is totally different. Iran has already acquired all the capabilities for a bomb, merely looking for a proper time to test it probably with the help of others!
»Some nuclear experts argue it would take Iran anywhere between several months to up to a year. But China’s experience shows that Tehran could build a bomb much faster—in as little as three to five weeks.«
How quickly could Iran build its first nuclear weapon? Look at China
Once China produced weapons-grade uranium, it assembled its first atomic bomb in as little as three to five weeks. Iran may do it even faster.

Appearing on the BBC news, I pointed out that Iran’s weak position caused by the fall of Assad in Syria and collapse of its proxy forces, Tehran lost its primary deterrent against Israel. Iran has no option except to make a deal with Trump in order to maintain its survival.

It’s a failure for the IAEA and the NPT as Grossi said last month that Iran had informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that it would "dramatically" accelerate enrichment of uranium to up to 60% purity, closer to the roughly 90% of weapons grade.

Russia’s adoption of an amended nuclear doctrine is the latest iteration of now-frequent Russian nuclear saber-rattling and does not represent a substantial change in Russia’s nuclear posture, doctrine, or the threat of the employment of nuclear weapons. 🧵(1/6)
