It’s not price gouging.. it’s the fact that Americans swear by the power of a free market and see government controls as the devil itself. Governments in the EU negotiate directly with Pharma companies which often results in significantly lower prices.

True. Then take into account the fact that out of a pipeline of 10 drugs, only maybe 2 or 3 of them get through all the trials and are approved to take to market, so the margin on those have to make up for the R&D costs of all 10.

It’s a really simple and completely incorrect comparison that does not account at all for the resources used in R&D and also for the large amount of drug substances that never make it past all the stages to be able to bring to market.

There were more than 1000 joyful, peaceful, enthusiastic, friendly protesters for the no kings rally this morning in Cary, North Carolina. There were people in frog and unicorn costumes and everyone driving by either waved or beeped at us. I’m taking a food break before heading to my next protest.
