dw as a huge fan I completely agree, that's why I've done multiple redesigns such as making them different types of horses, or adding patterns, or making their human designs different skin tones, body types, heights and fashions

i think it counts, but when I say body types its usually like- "oh this character is part of a copy paste body type show, lemme imagine how they'd look if they weren't"

most I've ever done was change skin tones and body types and sometimes spice up boring outfits (tho tbf I mostly do mlp fanart and their eg designs are very copy paste)

the only time it doesn't bother me is when its characters without a canon gender (or that I don't see as having a canon gender)because like- idk- I'm js not bothered by gender headcanons as much when there is no canon

Honestly agree, gender bending characters always confuses me 💔 but at the same time, I HC fluttershy as transmasc so I fear it's similar (I'm a Fluttershy fictionkin tbf-)
