Today is the anniversary of the Nakba (15 May 1948) which violently displaced >750k Palestinians. We are showing up as a uni community to show solidarity with Palestine. Join us at our Nakba Day teach in today from 11am-1pm (the Hub VUW) to hear from amazing speakers and learn more about BDS.

Solidarity doesn't stop at imperialist border lines, but runs unbroken for a free Palestine and tino rangatiratanga. Uni workers will be at Treaty grounds, hīkoi, + community events tomorrow.

UWP sent the letter to UniSaver's board on 8 August, 2024. To date, we have received no response. UniSaver did post on its website two weeks later to “address” this issue. They concluded that UniSaver members and its board must “agree to disagree” about investing in apartheid and genocide.

Thread: How did we get here?

University Workers for Palestine (UWP) formed in 2024. At first, we needed to meet up for events and protests supporting Palestine. We needed to connect and consider how to push our institutions to Boycott and Divest from Israel.
