Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectroscopy, particularly ATR-FTIR, is a widely used technique that allows rapid screening of biological samples and the identification of specific molecular alterations based on changes to its specific spectral signature.

Sam has spent two decades studying soil ecology & is part of a growing group of researchers & educators using eco-acoustics to listen to soil. In his talk, he will explore how microphones placed in the ground could reveal the biodiversity, geophysical characteristics, & overall health of soil.
