In the past 10 years, I've worked on feature films, won "best in show" at a film festival, edited for PBS, produced for cooking shows, but ultimately I'm left with very little to show for it.

Hoping that 2026 is the year I start feeling confident enough to share my venture into stop-motion shorts.

I finally crossed Master and Commander off my watchlist.

There's an alternate universe where Jack Sparrow was never a household name and we got an entire franchise based on the seafaring and somewhat queer adventures of Captain Aubrey and Stephen Maturin.

Can't fathom how I didn't notice a new Quay Brothers film was out in the world. Miniature worlds of dust and decay fleshed out via dream logic. Inspirational mix of live-action and stop motion.

Fully expected to have a fun time at most, going into There Are Monsters, but now I'm left reminiscing about making home movies with childhood friends.
A ★★★ review of There Are Monsters (2013)
The found footage genre is usually going to be fairly hit or miss for most people. On my own end, I can't help but feel a fondness fueled by nostalgia for those early filmmaking years, when gathering ...

Accidentally stumbled upon an insane double feature about girlbossing too hard.

"Looking for Mr. Goodbar" (1977) and "To Die For" (1995).

Group I’m a part of hasn’t been able to get together and watch movies in a while.

If you’re a film freak, invite me to your movie night!

Remember this intense scene from the highly-acclaimed film? Most people don’t know that this was REAL and the actor was ACTUALLY scared and NOT acting. The cameras turned on and he suddenly forgot that he was on a set and how to do his job. This fun fact makes the scene much more impressive now!

The new Katamari seems great so far, but it seems to lack a bit of BOUNCE??? Feels like it's easier to get stuck in places, instead of ricocheting out of tight spots when colliding with objects.

big rolling ball still makes me smile tho

Genuinely grateful for this time of year when the occasional lizard will enter my apartment to stay warm. Just dumb little cuties who don't know where they are. 🦎

I hope they can at least sense a modicum of benevolence when I escort them outside.

If you haven't seen it, this Halloween I recommend watching Phantom of the Paradise. Very campy with an emotional core (in the same vein as Rocky Horror), while providing commentary on greed and exploitation in the entertainment industry.

I wouldn't think twice if you told me Hackers (1995) inspired both Deus Ex and Jet Set Radio.

Nothing screams mainstream stagnation in the entertainment industry like seeing the same IPs being advertised for a lifetime. I remember being visually assaulted by the Phantom Menace marketing wave as a kid, and now it's 2025 and I'm still seeing a Star War on my soda can. Pls let it die, thanks!

The first 15 minutes of Weapons were great, but then the guy next to us dramatically spilled their food everywhere at the exact moment that someone crashed their vehicle into a nearby power line outside, causing the theater to lose power for the remainder of the day. Potentially cursed film.

In retrospect, not a fan of the Vampire Survivors-like wave that saturated the “bullet hell” and “shmup” tags on Steam, effectively burying standout indie titles like The Void Rains Upon Her Heart and A Whole Wolfrush, which both feel more akin to the genre’s roots and aren’t glorified idle games.

Thank CHRIST Lynch isn't around to see what they're doing to one of his favorite films. Also, this is a great example of how even something that was made 85 years ago can look vastly superior to soulless regurgitative soup that literally siphons the planet of more beauty than it can create.
'The Wizard of Oz' (1939) vs 'The Wizard of Oz at Sphere' (2025)

Over 90% of the film has been 'touched up' with AI

Ravenous (1999) and Walker (1987) would be a far too potent double-feature, I fear.
