I liked Hollow Knight's trick of only giving that information at the doorstep of the final boss, so you have to do your first playthrough unable to know the *full* full scale of things

I love how I keep picking up on new gags every time I rewatch it, like how in the flashbacks to the band trying different styles they're always several years past the peak of the trend

I like how you juxtapose cute characters with gore and atrocities just so matter-of-factly and take it artistically seriously, not just "whoaaa would that be fucked up or what"

oh, big mood - like, it's not my thing but I'm really not that psychologically or culturally far away, I value having good diplomatic ties and they make some banger concept albums and VNs

Even as someone who's only dipped a toe into that world, I love the baked-in quantity of chuuni energy
