that instructor was asking us all to be drug dealers. to get people hooked so they need more and more. and those apps that are postured for ‘productivity’ exist to keep the wheels of capitalism turning. either way, the rich get richer, and we become more addicted and the cycle continues. 5/

who does this serve? and what conversation are we trying to keep going exactly? these companies can control every aspect of the alleged ‘conversation’ with a couple of keystrokes. if eroding universal truths and bending their knees to fasc!sts means more money, they won’t hesitate for a second 4/

some of these apps are “free” but the true cost is obscured away from us behind badge notifications, silly sounds and a snappy UI. FOMO is baked into these apps. look at TikTok/Lemon8/Red Book. before TikTok was even “banned” people were already running to the next app 3/

the UI, the UX, the “usefulness” of the app were all secondary considerations that served the main goal: get users, and more importantly, keep users. our attention = more $$ for these corporations. 2/
