Mosquito abatement districts in Utah, including SLCMAD, have been detecting recent positive mosquito samples of St. Louis encephalitis virus (SLEV). It is not new to the U.S., & has been detected in Utah before. Like WNV, there is no vaccine to prevent SLEV. Remember to prevent mosquito bites! 🦟

Check out the items highlighted in yellow. Do you have any of these around your property? If so, you may want to check 'em out for standing water! Mosquito larvae require standing water in order to survive and grow.

Mosquitoes have four stages of their life cycle and the first three take place in the water. It's important to remember to check your property for standing or stagnant water at least once a week to reduce mosquitoes!
