I think the developer of Northern Journey did just that, where he just went hiking with a hi-def camera, took lots of photographs of trees, plants and rocks and just used those as textures in his game. It looks fantastic.

Ultrakill has no sequels with vastly different mechanics. With Doom you brain probably just gets confused between 2016, Eternal and TDA.
