Every time I come across a picture book for children with hideous artwork that is so obviously AI-generated, I think of the underestimation of children’s minds that comes with the low effort that’s put into the media we make for them. Then I remember this passage from my favorite Roger Ebert review:

"Friends" is a beloved American sitcom that aired from 1994 to 2004, following six young adults—Rachel, Ross, Monica, Chandler, Joey, and Phoebe—living in New York City. The show explores their friendships, romances, careers, and personal growth over ten seasons.

Am I the only one who hates the overly expressive, live-action CGI animals in these films? I don’t have any strong opinions about the first Wicked (it was fine), but I would’ve liked it more if it hadn’t reminded me of Twisted Whiskers or that cursed Mufasa movie. All three look the same to me.

Finally caught up with Cronenberg's newest film after putting it off for so long because everyone made it sound bad...Turns out people are just tasteless! His recent work has been so fascinating

Broke my rule of only rating films after I’ve logged them because I couldn’t let anyone think I liked Fixed. Review for Caught Stealing coming soon, probably.

Highest 2 Lowest: one of the most baffling things I’ve seen this year. A$AP brought it though.

Really enjoyed Weapons—a tense yet amusing uphill rollercoaster ride, featuring a deliciously committed performance from the great Amy Madigan.

Read my review of the film (as well as my thoughts on Highest 2 Lowest and KPop Demon Hunters), below:

(1/2) It’s such an intuitive performance. I noticed she briefly looked hurt in the scene where Alex makes her promise she’ll leave, in return for his help. At the time I wondered if maybe I was overanalyzing, but later I read a quote from Zach Cregger that pretty much confirmed to me what I’d seen:
