Writer.
Poetry.
Not speculative poetry.
Love poetry. It follows an emotional journey through the light, easy beginnings of love, increasing in intensity, right through the heartbreaking end.

What kinds of things influenced my memoir?

Not other memoirs. I haven’t read enough.

It started with an off-hand comment: I should edit an anthology of stories about me.

Coming in September!

A rather unorthodox memoir.

Stories about the things that made me the writer and the man I am today.

But as I’ve been told knowing me can be a surreal experience.

But even if some of the stories aren’t true, they are al lhonest.

I had to enlist some help.

My next book comes out in September.

(If you need a review copy, let me know.)

It’s a rather unorthodox memoir.

I had help.

It comes out on 9/16. My birthday. (That’s relevant.) Cover reveal on 7:/16?

Random pic I took years ago of a coin I possess — is it related? 😮

Have you played? Did you win?

When I put this together, I didn’t realize the average book of this type had some 30 endings. So there are 130ish. Werewolves, vampires, ghosts, zombies, demons, swamp witches, alligators, aliens, sexy nurses, an old man on a front porch.

Which doom will you choose?

I was in New York City this past weekend. Saw my favorite painting.

One guess which it is.

Release Day!
June 25, 2024 at 2:47 PM
I am so excited about my upcoming book. The Secret History of the Palace Theater is the result of seven years of love and agony.

Don't take my word for it. Rick Hipson in July's Rue Morgue says nice things, and so does Karen E. Taylor, author of the Vampire Legacy series!

The Secret History of the Palace Theater

Release in 5 days!

I’m so excited. This is probably one of the best things I’ve ever written. Magic. Myth. Cosmic terror.

@briankeene.bsky.social’s first novel, The Rising, came out in 2003.

One character makes a cameo in my novella Beneath Midnight.

Here’s a secret:
John of Many Colors is me. (My first chapbook was A Game of Colors.) When he appears on a Midnight subway platform—is it a Brian Keene character—or me?

My 2nd novel, originally a limited edition in 2006, has never been in print since.

Until now.

I have many feelings about this. I still love the story and the characters. The settings are ripped out of my life from over 20 years ago. But it’s rough, an early version of me.

I hope you enjoy.

Proofreading the upcoming re-release of a novel, with a new cover, and thinking this is good, this was good, I’m very much enjoying this and I should maybe do that sequel I’d been thinking about.

What do you think?

I wanted to write a vampire story that was something else underneath — so it’s a House on the Borderlands story.

Werewolf story? Yes, but also something else!

Witch? No, it’s a time loop story!

Three “stories” that tie tightly together.

Rainy days like this are perfect for one of my poetry books.

Five years ago, I didn’t suspect I’d ever have one. Now I have three.

The first InkStains book is free for Kindle through I think Tuesday.

Flash fictions written daily with a fountain pen over a year.

This project was important to me, and I’ve realized this week that it’s not really finished. I still have work to do.

In the meantime, you can enjoy these stories.

I write poetry because I’m compelled. Because I enjoy it. In a way, it’s me at my most open, honest, forthcoming.

In the opening set, Annabel Lee, in Shadow, I created a persona. Still 2?parts me, but 1 part something else. Someone else. Someone dangerous & descending.

Available now.
