also when bringing all these dozens (hundreds?) of processes into one software system there is little to no process reengineering happening. Bad processes just get collected into one sprawling software interface with hard to understand names for things

we're doing this right now with workday. imo the dysfuction underlies the software, with disperate systems developed internally by administrators over yrs to respond to external requirements (ie audits) w/ little customer service experience or interest; these compound and become entrenched

Where kids are developmentally at age 4 or 5 when they take the G&T test (in NYC) has very little to do with their long-term intellectual capacities and interests. The only real reason for these programs is to keep squeamish upper middle class families in the public school system.
