UpTogether has partnered with Austin, San Antonio & El Paso on guaranteed income. Participants in those pilots told lawmakers about the positive impact of direct cash on their lives.

On Tuesday, a coalition led by UpTogether, @everytexan.bsky.social and @economicsecurity.us testified against HB 530, a harmful proposed bill in Texas that would prohibit municipalities from enacting guaranteed income programs. 1/

UpTogether CEO, Jesús Gerena asked the California Assembly to pass a bill expanding the Young Child Tax Credit (YCTC) to include children up to 17 by 2028.

In his letter to lawmakers, Gerena urged:

✅ Include more families
✅ Lift the earned income requirement
✅ Make payments recurring
