I agree. Helm and similar are not real abstractions, a CRD implementing a higher level API is, but only if it doesn't require users to look into how the generated resources were generated.

I’ve been coding with my voice for weeks now because I hurt my right hand. Turns out I hate writing to coding agents but I’m absolutely fine talking to them. I can’t explain why, other than we humans are complex and experience and enjoy things differently.

Yeah but the job market is fragmented, the countries are all divided, the compensations wildly different. I talk as Italian living in Germany as I couldn't get a decent job in any way, a decade ago. Draghi has been telling us how broken things are for a few years now m.youtube.com/watch?v=j3fj...

Not zero, but limited and not generic. There a few bespoke things that you can customize which will be transformed at deploy time, but it's a non arbitrary set of things, to avoid issues with templating. I have a Masterplan in mind to make everything even better but I don't get to execute it 😅

Great post, I agree with everything you said. At GitHub, we have raw Kubernetes YAML as the "contract", users can only use helm to commit the output to their repos. We have a set of default linters that are a combination of OPA and custom ruby code, which validates correctness and common issues.

Yes, definitely prepare, it's not an easy experience, but one that you will be glad to do. I was 17 when I went and I'm glad my teachers decided it was important for us to see with your own eyes.

If you ever get the chance again, I'd recommend to visit a concentration camp. It touches something inside that you can't forget and makes the visitors understand why this should never happen again. We can't be this close to what fascism and nazism were and they must be fought before it is too late.
