It calls for #collaborative solutions like rotational harvesting and community-government partnerships to address overharvesting and ecological degradation. These insights offer pathways for #sustainable #resource #management in fragile high-altitude ecosystems.

We recently published the paper "Integrating Divergent Stakeholder Perspectives for Sustainable Management of High-Altitude Ecosystems: Insights from Cordyceps Harvesting in the Himalayas" in the journal @Sustainability Science.

The amount of land required for solar is not as much as many think, and there is plenty of suboptimal land available such as roadsides, former mining areas, etc. This recent report maps it out:

This research highlights the need for programs that combine local, direct assistance to farmers with broader efforts to remove structural barriers may be more likely to be effective at facilitating conservation adoption than those operating at one scale alone.

Our study found that adoption is influenced by various factors at the individual and county levels. At an individual level, farm size, and perceived agronomic capacity play a role, as do county-level factors like average slope, Crop insurance coverage rate, and % of rented land.

The #4RsPlus approach for #nutrient #management - using the right source, right rate, right time in the right place with in-field & edge-of-field practices - has the potential to benefit both farmers & the environment. However, adoption rates among farmers are not meeting nutrient reduction goals.
