Children <5 years are at risk of nutritional anaemia, defined by the WHO as a haemoglobin (Hb) level below 110g/L. Haemoglobin is a protein in red blood cells (RBCs) that carries oxygen and carbon dioxide. A shortage of healthy RBCs can hinder oxygen transport, affecting growth and development.
