You're Invited Vigil for Our Courses Wednesday, November 19th 3pm-4pm Please join us for an hour of reflection. There will be a brief musical performance followed by speeches from students. "The day the music died" The song 'American Pie' by Don McLean is an 8.5 minute-long powerful commentary on American society after the deaths of musicians Buddy Holly, Ritchie Caleb and Big Bopper. It is also easy to perform loudly and continuously for an hour in the Trent Courtyard on Thursday 20th November from 3pm Onwards. Chords and Lyrics will be provided. If you play an instrument, bring it along. Be loud, be annoying, be heard.

Save our courses protest update New start time 12:45 Thank you so much for all the incredible support so dar! Tomorrow's protest will now start at 12:45, ahead of SU's Future Forum. We're adapting plans to make sure our message is heard loud and clear- join us to protest the cuts and call on our SU to stand with us against course closures. We'll still meet at highfield house, moving to monica partridge for the start at 1pm Sorry for the late change- let's make some noise for our incredible staff.

It's not just music and language courses- it's 48 courses across the university.

But here's the thing- our UCU colleagues at other universities (like @Cardiffucu.bsky.social) have faced the exact same threats, fought back, and won. So we can too.

UoN Palestine Coalition Calling all students, societies and staff! Make sure you don't miss the first coalition event for Palestine at UoN For the past 2 years, UoN has been supporting the ongoing genocide against the people of Palestine. As students and staff of this university, it is our duty to take organised action together to demand divestment. 1PM - 4PM Wedsnesday 29th October B63, Law & Social Sciences building University park campus NG7 2RD What is the coalition? A collection of student societies, students and staff calling for an end to UoN's complicity. Everyone can get involved. We will be working together to provide: An Open Sapce: for dialogue and education on palestinian history & liberation Accountability: investigating and challenging our university's complicity. Action: Campaigning for UoN divestment and student support Support: We build strength and safety by taking action and strategising together Content we will cover: History of Palestine What is the coalition? UoN Complicity What can staff do? What can students do? Strategy and areas of work "We are not outnumbers, we are out-organised" - Malcolm X The majority of students at UoN do not support the genocide being committed by the Israeli Occupation. We pay the salaries of UoN management. Over 130 members of staff have signed the BDS pledge, showing their support for the Palestinian cause. However, corrupt systems don't change because they should, they change because people organise and force the change to come.
