The original source of The Shining photo has been discovered. It was taken at a St. Valentine's Day ball at the Empress Rooms, part of the Royal Palace Hotel in Kensington, on February 14, 1921. It was one of three taken by the Topical Press Agency. (one seen here)

I saw this posted in alt Kubrick group today. Having studied history, political cartoons are often used to learn more about the times in which people lived. It is quite amazing that a film from 45 years ago is still relevant as a modern lens through which satire is created.
