This photo was taken while she was on the phone with the Nobel Committee in Sweden. Mary said she initially missed the call because a strange number popped up on her phone — she thought it might be spam.

Each year, more than 1 billion pounds of coffee grounds are tossed into landfills & compost bins. A UW doctoral student has brewed up a way to make an alternative to plastics with those used coffee grounds.

Update: Amanda Moll is making it seriously hard to keep up with her record-breaking! 😅
Just hours after our previous post, Amanda broke her record AGAIN (that's now the fourth time she's broken her own record, for those counting), this time clearing 16-1.25 (4.91-meters). 🤯

UW athlete Amanda Moll made NCAA history! She’s the first college athlete ever to clear 16 feet (4.88m) in pole vault. She joins an elite group — only three other American women have ever gone this high, and those other athletes are all Olympic medalists.
