We bring EYA Focus Week 2025 to a close with #EYAYourArchive! We were only able to choose a handful of our favourite items for this year's Focus Week, so we're using this opportunity to share a few more.

🎉#EYAAnniversaries🎉Next month we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first public demonstration of the television, by UofG alumnus John Logie Baird. Related items in our collection include a Phonovision disc containing a unique copy of the earliest surviving television recording! [MS Gen 1774/3]

For #EYAInclusion, we’ve been looking at the records of Queen Margaret College, a higher education institution for women that joined with the University of Glasgow in 1892. The records are a fascinating resource for anyone interested in the history of women’s education in Scotland.

We’re behind the scenes for #EYADigital with our FRED machine, which analyses and processes digital files. Our collections increasingly involve digital materials; we’ve recently used the FRED and FTK to process material from the 2000s deposited from the University’s student television station, GUST.

Whilst celebrating the collections, it's important to recognise histories that are underrepresented in archives. #EYASilence is an opportunity to highlight work taking place to challenge these silences, such as Ashanti Harris's project which consulted the Scottish Theatre Archive.

For #EYAMedieval, we've chosen the 12th-century Hunterian Psalter, one of the most magnificent manuscripts from William Hunter’s library. Here's a miniature depicting the Ascension (fo. 4r), an intricate initial B (fol 22r), and a singing goat with an ass playing the harp (fol 88r). [MS Hunter 229]
