Burnt out ex prison medic & cancer nurse now loving libraries as my workplace. Aussie/ Brit, bookworm, info junkie & happy hooker crocheter. Love my tucker & glass of wine or three. Humanist. Support your local library. 💉💳📚🗞️🧶🥙🍷🇦🇺🇬🇧🇪🇺🌍☮️
Started hooking again last week for the first time in ages!! Tis been a difficult few months. Anyway, the start of a school of African flower fish to decorate the children’s library for the summer reading challenge.

My NY resolution was to not have too many library books at once and put myself under pressure. Not going so well. 🤷‍♀️
Two I started in Australia and had to leave behind but still… 💙📚

Spicy Margarita on Rottnest Island. Don’t mind if I do🏝️ 🌶️ 🍸. I see Farage has dragged his slimy arse here to BlueSky. Blocked with so much pleasure.

Sometimes I question myself in this world of misinformation. Results were reassuring :-)

Stupidly excited to find what I think is a raptor pellet on my patio. It’s a mixture of bone and feathers and gristle. Could it be? #nature

The weather has been shite hasn’t it but today is tolerable. Lovely amble on the N Devon coast. Sadly, no mermaids in the rock pools today 🧜‍♀️

Books I’ve bought since joining BlueSky. Just want to give a shout-out to @foxlanebooks.bsky.social 🦊. So quick to deliver and beaut packaging. Feeling for all the small independent businesses with the Other Place fiasco. Boo to Elon, he stinks. 😷

Love an unreliable narrator, even have the t-shirt (although colleague pointed out it doesn't do much for my credibility). These two books are my faves in recent years for UNs. If you haven't, watch South Korea's film adaption of Fingersmith, The Handmaiden. Any recent recommendations welcome.

I 💙 seeing parents reading a story to their child in the library (goes a lot like this cartoon). Something very wholesome and special. Sometimes I ask if they'd like me to take a photo and I dream that many years in the future this will be a cherished memory and I played a little part in that.

So glad I took the leap into BlueSky. Following some really nice, creative, interesting, a few funny oddballs, accomplished and learned people. All these things I value. And most people really happy to engage. Refreshing!

I had a whole wedding party thrown out of a venue and I don't wish to discuss the most shameful episode of my life, ever.

Can we talk hobbies? I help care full-time for my very frail father-in-law, lives in an annexe attached to our home. It's social isolating, ngl, but gives space to explore hobbies. One of mine is mid century modern (esp German) dollshouse furniture. Would love for you to share a pic of your hobby.

Joined the sweetest, most rambunctious little ten-years-old lad today. He was so excited to join the library and ecstatic to find on BorrowBox he could read his favourite magazine... Farmers Weekly! 😂. His joy was infectious and he made everyone secretly smile. It's the little things.
