This is my perception too. And not in a way that makes them better, just in a way that makes them easier sells to reluctant viewers. Getting someone into anime when they have a strong negative perception of it is hard without a sort of in between show like bebop

bebop in particular is helpful as a transition show to get people into anime at large. I had a friend who thought anime was cringe, but after watching bebop I was able to get him to watch other shows with me. 25ish shows and several years later and we're very far from bebop but it was a perfect 1st
