The gavel used in #UNGA is more than symbolic; it marks each session’s opening, closing & key decisions. In 1945, Edward Stettinius Jr. of the US handed it to A.A. Gromyko of the USSR at the San Francisco Conference. Today, each new PGA receives it in a handover.
