#FirstBirdOfMyDay: I went looking for coffee, then an address. I found a new building, but old trees by a lake. A Palm Warbler, newly arrived Fall migrant, forged on the ground then flew into branches and blended into tiny just yellowing leaves.

Beyond the beautiful imagery of this poem, and lovely and astonishing new (to me) word "threadsuns," I thought of this photo I took earlier in the week, on a morning birding excursion in a nearby park.

#MyFirstBirdOfTheDay might've been its first #tallhumancreaturethingoftheday. I glanced up from my coffee and book and there she was, just on the other side of the lanai, a Red-shouldered Hawk (juvenile, I suspect) in a Live Oak Tree some 20' away. After 20 seconds, she did a 270 and was gone.
