Had a wonderful day in Toronto yesterday. Participated in a roundtable with faculty and students and gave a lecture on AI in medicine at the JCB. Lovely dinner with good friends after capped a marvelous visit.

It’s difficult to explain to non-ethics people how much of my professional life is basically dealing with people who don’t see any value in ethics (because they don’t understand what it might be) but who feel forced to engage with me because of some external requirement.

I find this is true of my best collaborations—that they are part of a process of discovery that requires real trust and the ability to move outside of your own ego and to be open to being changed.
I closely collaborate with my husband on research. The process is fraught. Involves nonstop bickering. We have different, at times completely opposing, perspectives and we clash. A lot. It's taught me a lot over the years and transformed my perspective on collaboration. 1/10

Huge accomplishment: I just drilled out a stripped screw and replaced the cartridge in my shower faucet. No leaks so far. This calls for a celebratory drink I think.
