I think some of it may be that high rated corps might actually be safer than govt bonds now. Or said differently and similar to your take is what is the “risk free” rate

As a professional investor the daily chop from hf/retail positioning this year is larger and more persistent than any period I can remember. 2020 had big swings but for short periods and reactive to real news on covid. This year it is happening daily on relatively little news. Ppl are JUMPY

AI is too big a driver now and at some point the super long industrial recession in the US will turn (maybe starting now). Some of the downturn probably was from policy/regulation crowding out private investment (ie bad dem policy) that is going away
